CCTV Basic Components and Troubleshooting Guide
CCTV DVR
CCTV DVR is a device where CCTV configuration and recording is stored. This is also where CCTV cameras are connected.

- Video IN – Connected to CCTV cameras
- Audio IN – Connected to microphone.
- Audio out – Connected to audio output, i.e. speakers.
- Video out – Connected to video output device, i.e. TV.
- LAN port – Connected to 8-port switch/ISP modem thru LAN cable.
- VGA port – Connected to monitor/KVM switch.
- RS 232 port
- HDMI – Connected to HDMI monitor
- USB 2.0 port – Connected to mouse/KVM switch.
- Alarm input.
- Power input port – Connected to 12V power adapter.
- Power switch
- Ground
Common problems of CCTV DVR
1. No cameras on display upon accessing CCTV viewing thru SmartPSS/Hikvision app or web viewing.
To troubleshoot CCTV DVR
1. Check if CCTV DVR's power indicator on front panel of unit is lit.
If not:
- Check if power adapter is lit.
If not:
- Check if the power cord connected on the adapter to the main outlet is plugged in properly.
2. Check if CCTV DVR's LAN port at the back of the unit is lit and blinking.
If not:
- Try to resocket network cables connected on the 8-port switch.
- Try to resocket network cable connected on the network port at the back of the DVR.
CCTV Power Supply
CCTV power supply is a device that provides power to the CCTV cameras and is some cases, also the DVR.

Common problems of CCTV power supply.
1. No video all or some channels.
To troubleshoot:
- Check if power supply power cord is connected properly at the wall outlet.
- Open power supply cover panel.
- Check if power supply LED green light indicator is lit. (check image below)
- If there is an LED or all LED's are not lit, call technicals support
